Design Concept for the Environmental Complex Archipelago Meduza
This project involved creating a design concept for three artificial islands that can move independently on water (sea or lake), and drift while remaining fixed to the bottom soil of the water body.
Each of the islands is an architectural complex with the technological framework to provide autonomous life support. Built as a hub for sports, leisure, and entertainment, the complex offers comfortable accommodations for guests who want to enjoy luxury while travelling on water.
The plastic-like structure of the Meduza Island has an original design that takes the shape of a jellyfish, and it seeks to emulate the mobile lifestyle of the sea creature. It was designed to house and entertain up to 5,000 vacationers comfortably, and there’s a total useful area of about 700,000 sqm. This includes living quarters with different suites, restaurants, cafes, beaches, sports & gaming facilities, spas, swimming pools, cinemas, concert halls, gardens, and aquariums.
High-tech materials like transparent concrete, heavy-duty carbon fibre, flexible solar panels, airgel, graphene, fullerenes, were utilised for the construction of the ultramodern Meduza Island.
