Designing Office Space

We were contracted to create an interior design for an engineering company that designs seaports, and Designer Anastasia Danilova was placed in charge of this project. The office was located on the seashore, so it was decided that a dominant blue colour would be ideal to help maintain a natural theme.

The objective was to create a modern office plan with a minimalistic design and little visual noise. It was also important for the space to appear bigger than its 110 square metres, so that more employees could work without feeling cramped. Since the building itself was quite old, developing a modern look required some creativity. We opted not to change the layout – it was an elongated floor with several rooms that led to one another without doors; only the head of department’s office had a door. 

To help the space come alive, we used stripes to introduce some branding and combined it with nice lighting fixtures to simulate movement. We also removed the wallpapers used to design the space prior to our taking over the project, and the tattered laminate laid on the office floor was quickly dispatched as well. In a matter of weeks, our design team had the office looking brand new. Previously, employees would huddle around old brown tables, but now they work in an office that looks more like the seaside across the road from them. Their space’s interior rivalled the most beautiful shores, with light skies, blue sea, and grey rocks giving them the best view in the area.
